CCPs 17th expansion has arrived with new kinky graphics and a whole load of bells & whistles, flying your Caldari troll-boat has never looked cooler. But what you're most likely interested in is the new modules, they will certainly make a difference and probably cause a riot as the Gallentean drone bonus becomes even more of a rarity; drones of super strength become accessible for any race on-top of the pilots original ship bonus.
Here are the new modules :

  • Armor Adaptive Hardener I
Low slot. Armor Hardener that adjusts its resistance based on the damage received. Only one can be fitted. Just the tech I version now, but others will follow if this turns out well.

  • Extrinsic Damage Amplifier I & II
Low slot. A damage amplifier module for drones.

  • Small/Medium/Large/X-Large Ancillary Shield Booster I
Mid slot. A shield booster that gives a good boost, but has a very high capacitor need. Can use Cap Boosters as charge to negate the severe capacitor need. Only tech I version for now.

  • MagSheath Target Breaker I
Mid slot. A module that has a chance of breaking the lock of ships targeting you, the chance increases the more ships target you at one time. Also breaks your locks. Reduces scan resolution significantly as a downside. Only one can be fitted at a time and the can not be fitted to capital ships.

  • Small/Medium/Large Overclocking Processor Unit I & II
A rig that increases the CPU output of your ship, at a cost of reduced shield recharge rate.

  • Light & Medium Web Drones

  • Capacitor Battery additional bonus
All capacitor batteries now also provide a defense against Energy Vampires (Nos) and Energy Neutralizer (Neut) effects. A portion of the effect is reflected back on the aggressor.

To see how these new modules will be distributed, scroll down to "Toys’R’Drop" here.
For a complete lowdown on Inferno head on over to it's official feature page.

I'll leave you with a quick insight by CCP Guard and Jon Lander (Senior Producer, not cool enough for a CCP Nickname because he's bald apparently).

A few words on the new mods.

Downside of the new shield booster: Reloading cap booster charges takes 60 seconds. During reloading your capacitor will be sucked dry due to the immense activation costs. Positive is the sheer boost amount, about the level of a meta 14 x-large shield booster. An x-large anillary can take 400 or 800 charges. According to corpmate it makes no difference which charge you choose, i.e. you can load twice as many charges using 400s and still have the same boost amount per cycle/charge. I.e. use the smaller charges, boost twice as often before having to reload. Don't ask me how this is supposed to make sense -.-

First tests with the adaptive hardener have shown that it adjusts over time at a rate of 1% per cycle. Tested on a BS being shot with purely explosive dmg.

The target breaker is chance-based. The more locks are on the ship using that module (ship A), the higher the chance of breaking locks of those targeting it (ships B ). Ships' B targeting of ship C will not be affected and remain active.

Feel free to correct and/or extend this information.

Sounds like a bug about the shield boost.

Or a bug to cap booster charges. The shield booster info says it takes XLarge charges. Both the 400 and 800 cap booster charges claim to be XLarge.
